The Cité de l'Huître is designed to introduce visitors to the oyster industry and the Charente-Maritime marsh region, with a range of activities including an introduction to opening oysters, oyster farming, bike rides around the marsh and creative workshops for children.
The visit and activities are included in the admission ticket. You can also rent a bike for a 3.5km ride along the path of the oyster beds.

Discover the never-before-seen film "Entre Terre et Mer" (Between Land and Sea), inviting you to fly over the Charente-Maritime region and dive into the heart of the oyster basin and the oyster farming profession. Projection on a giant screen for total immersion.
Enjoy a bike ride and a breath of iodized air in one of France's largest wetlands! Come and discover, with your family, a natural world that has been man-made since Roman times. 3.5 km loop accessible to all. Helmet and protective cap available. Suitable bikes and trailers are available for children.

Discovery of the marsh": Take an animated tour to discover the oyster maturing process, as well as the plants and secrets of the marsh: a life-size excursion...

Oyster farming" animation: We'll take to the water for you! Come and discover the secrets of oyster farming, and observe the skills and know-how of oyster farmers.

Introduction to oyster opening": Join our animators for consumer advice, an introduction to safe oyster opening and an oyster tasting.
Hot Oysters" animation: Discover an oyster recipe cooked with the chef's secrets, and taste an oyster. (Animation on reservation, duration 15 min, included in the price of the entrance ticket).

The Cité de l'Huître is open from April 1 to November 11:
- Easter and All Saints school vacations (all zones): Every day from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Summer vacations: Daily from 10am to 7pm
- Off school vacations: Wednesday to Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Mondays and Tuesdays).
